MORTUARY

Service
The Scarborough Regional Hospital Tobago Mortuary Department operates a twenty-one (21) draw freezer area which houses the remains of patients who died in the hospital or in the villages due to causes which require a post-mortem examination.

Hours of Operation
The operating days are from Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:15 pm when the mortuary attendant is on duty. At other times, the keys can be obtained from the security staff to permit the placement of bodies in the freezer.

Delivery of Bodies
Bodies are delivered to families or Funeral Homes, between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:15 PM A member of the family MUST be present to correctly identify a body before representatives from a Funeral Home can remove the remains from the Mortuary for burial.

Autopsies
Post-mortem examinations are performed on Fridays between the hours of 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, by a visiting Pathologist from Trinidad.
